TAX BENEFITS FOR CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS

The project “Tax benefits for civil society organizations” is part of the Civil Platform of Macedonia program (2006-2007) financed by European Union and managed by European Agency for Reconstruction. The seminars are integral part of the series of activities from the project where leading and implementation organization is Macedonian centre for International Cooperation (MCIC) in the frame of the program component “Improvement of legal and fiscal framework for CSOs”. Overall objective of the project is contribution to the opportunity making environment and support for further development of civil society in Macedonia. The project is implemented in Skopje, Veles, Gostivar, Kumanovo and Prilep. Expected results are: information about the current legislative about the tax regulations and opportunities in the country regarding civil society organizations; Presentation of new tax regulations for civil society organizations; Providing recommendations for changes in fiscal regulative regarding civil society organizations. Activities that will lead to achieving of the expected results are: preparation of brochure “Review of the new tax regulations in the country”; 4 seminars and 1 debate about the new regulations; and recommendations for new tax opportunities for civil society organizations in Macedonia.

                  The aim of the seminars is the civil society organizations to get familiar with news about laws regarding taxes for civil society organizations in the country. The topics that will be discussed are focusing on many fields: personal tax and income tax, real estate tax and gift and inheritance tax, VAT, dealing with the profit from the business and investment activities, income from passive investments (i.e. dividends, rents, and interests), tax benefits designed for legal entities etc.
